Personalized Approach
Jay “ran away to join the circus” while he was still in high school, traveling Texas and Louisiana operating a rock wall attraction at events and festivals. He worked his way through college as an event food & beverage coordinator for a country club while earning a BS in Business Management from Newman University.
While completing his MS in Kinesiology with a Concentration in Sports Management from Louisiana State University, Jay developed sport theme websites for the Greater Houston United States Bowling Congress (GHUSBC), the LSU Bowling Team and others. It was during this time that Jay got his first big break working as Registration Manager for the 2011 National Senior Games held in his hometown of Houston. His solid work ethic, people skills and creative approach to problem solving led to a fulltime position as Director of Digital Services for the National Senior Games Association (NSGA), which he held through the 2013 National Senior Games in Cleveland, Ohio.
In 2014 Jay went to Fairfax, Virginia to be Director of Venue Management for the 2015 World Police & Fire Games (WPFG), which featured 61 sports at 58 venues in the region. Within six months he earned a promotion to be Senior Director of Venues and Competition. The governing federation declared that venue and operations management at those Games was the best in their history.
Jay is still involved with the NSGA, managing its website and performing graphic design work. His main focus now is planning and execution of events for a partner TJ EVENTS Company, notably managing convention operations for ComicPalooza, a massive annual event that utilizes the entire George R. Brown Convention center in Houston, Texas.
On October 5, 2015, Jay formalized JayBirds Co Inc (JayBirds Events) and has been managing projects and websites under a new brand. Still the same old "JayBird," just a little different look!
Jay is an avid sports enthusiast who enjoys competitive bowling and playing golf when not attending Houston Astros baseball games.
